Repeat Landscapes with Alexis Joseph

This is an online workshop held via Zoom.
Painting repeat landscapes has been a go to for Alexis on every getaway since a trip to the Yuba river back in 2017. She first picked up the grid paper to use the squares to try to capture the the movement and layers of color in the clear, flowing river.
Repetition and mark making has become a staple in Alexis' practice and in this session she will guide everyone through a repeat landscape painting using one color at a time across a gridded page. Mixing colors and painting the same stroke over and over to fill the grid allows time for each color to dry before the next color is added to the composition. Laying down marks builds its own rhythm—it allows for the detachment from trying to create a larger, single painting as the collection of them becomes the finished work.
This is a great class for beginners and intermediate artists alike! Feel free to bring your own images from a memorable trip to work from during class.
Join Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!
