TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 6:30 - 8:30pm PT
This is an in-person workshop at
CfM Art Room:
4035 Judah St, San Francisco, next door to our shop!

Many of us find ourselves drawn to abstract art, but we're not quite sure how to get there in our own work. Join artist Rachel Kaye for a playful workshop using drawing to first observe, and then abstract, traditional still-life studies! As you explore allowing non-representational forms and patterns to emerge, you'll complete a set of drawings with a strong emphasis on process. These may not all be masterpieces, but will enhance your grasp of abstract mark-making and expand your comfort with creative experimentation. This class is open to all skill levels, whether you’re a novice or experienced artist!

MATERIALS NEEDED
These are the supplies you'll need to bring for class—feel free to supplement this list with other options you love or have on hand!

  • A notebook or pad of sketch/mixed media paper
  • Any drawing materials you prefer (pencils, pens, pastels, etc). If you're excited to work with watercolors you're welcome to bring those as well!

If you'd like to purchase supplies from our shop, you can order online and select in-store pickup, or shop in person before class. Shop hours are 11am-6pm daily; please plan ahead if you're picking up supplies! Instructors will not have access to the shop when we're closed.
