Moods of the Sky with Dave Muller

This class explores ways to represent some of the infinite incarnations of the sky using watercolors. We will embrace the spontaneous relationship between water and pigment to discover cloud formations as well as practicing meditative movements that yield crisp sunset gradients. This class is intended for the celestially obsessed landscape enthusiast! There will be something for everyone from beginners to experts; the only prerequisite is an open mind.
Join zoom 15 minutes (1:45pm) early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 2:05pm PT so that everyone has plenty of time to join!
SUGGESTED MATERIALS:
- Your favorite watercolors; as few or many as you are comfortable using at once.
- One or more large brushes (flat 1" is my preferred)
- Any other brushes you like to work with (round 12, 8, 4, 1 etc)
- 4+ sheets of watercolor paper, around 6"x5" (no wider than 10"; Arches cold press 100% cotton 140lb preferred)
- Tape for edges (3m scotch magic tape works great)
ABOUT DAVE
Dave Muller has been a friend and an inspiration to our shop since before we even existed. He is a staple in our Outer Sunset neighborhood as an artist and fellow business owner. Dave has a way of making art that is both incredibly free, yet very detailed and precise—which creates a beautiful balance especially while working with watercolor. Dave's studio is just a block away from us and we always love to see what he is working on—we’re so excited to learn from him here!
