WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 6:30 - 8:30pm PT
This is an in-person workshop at
CfM Art Room:
4035 Judah St, San Francisco, next door to our shop!

This class is focused on drawing houses from our San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood (which is also Case For Making’s neighborhood!). Baptiste will provide you with pictures of his favorite houses in the Outer Sunset, guide you as you draw and paint them using watercolor. We will discuss perspective, light, shadows, and the artist’s decision in picturing certain details.

You will be able to leverage my inspiration pictures to create a structured drawing, and will experience more freedom as we decide what color that house should be (fun fact: whatever color you choose, there is probably a house in our neighborhood that resembles your creation.) After this class, you will know more about one and two-point perspective, learn to create volume thanks to shadows and light representation, and learn to alternate between constraints and freedom.

MATERIALS NEEDED
These are the supplies you'll need to bring for class—feel free to supplement this list with other options you love or have on hand!

If you'd like to purchase supplies from our shop, you can order online and select in-store pickup, or shop in person before class. Shop hours are 11am-6pm daily; please plan ahead if you're picking up supplies! Instructors will not have access to the shop when we're closed.

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR

I started painting in 2017, and my favorite subjects are European and Californian landscapes, as well as San Francisco houses. I didn’t study art but have an MSc in applied mathematics! I recently started painting smaller formats with any inspiration that comes my way: houses, vegetables, landscapes, animals. I teach watercolor twice a month in an art studio in San Francisco.

THINGS TO KNOW
If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible so we can open up your spot! We are only able to refund if we’re notified at least 48 hours prior to the workshop.

Workshop doors open 15 minutes early for all to arrive and get settled. Class will start promptly so everyone has plenty of time to create!

There is 1-hour parking along our block, and unmetered street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. We recommend building in extra time to park for evening and weekend classes.

If you are planning to teach in the future using anything you’ve learned from us, we kindly ask that you credit Case for Making + the individual instructor where applicable.

Thank you so much for taking our workshops!!
