Tuesday, June 10, 5:00pm - 6:30pm PT
This is an online workshop held via Zoom.

I was instantly drawn to Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp’s geometric compositions that work on and off a grid. I love her playful approach to her art which spans across mediums and disciplines from painting, tapestry, beaded bags, to costumes, marionettes, and sculptural portraits made from wooden hat stands. Inspired by Sophie’s rhythmic shapes and bold colors, we will create our own geometric patterns, exploring a variety of color combinations.

Join Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:

  • 3-5 of your favorite watercolor paints (at least one shade of red, yellow and blue)
  • 2-3 sheets of watercolor paper (cold press preferred) (we will work in multiples to allow time to dry between layers; no particular preferences on size — you can mix and match sizes)
  • 1 piece of scrap paper for swatching
  • 1 piece of scrap copy paper for warm-ups and sketching
  • 1-2 Brushes (Anjelika’s preference is small round size 2, 4, or 6)
  • Ruler or straight edge
  • Pencil
  • Water
  • Paper towel
