Saturday, September 26, 11:00am - 12:30pm PT
This is an online workshop held via Zoom.
In this workshop, participants will find inspiration in the vibrant, abstract paintings of Paul Klee. Using watercolor, we'll explore simplified shapes, geometric lines, layered translucent colors, and imaginative compositions to create paintings that emulate Klee's work. The class will focus on balancing structure with spontaneity, using color blocking to create our own compositions.
Paul Klee (1879 - 1940) was a Swiss-born German Expressionist artist whose work blended abstraction and symbolism. His paintings are well known for their sense of childlike curiosity. Klee combined geometric forms and expressive marks with glowing hues. By studying his approach to painting, participants will discover to new ways to explore abstraction through color and form.
Mark making describes the different lines, dots, marks, patterns, and textures we create in an artwork. It can be loose and gestural, or controlled and neat. We each have our own unique way of mark making, and discovering the limitless possibility of making marks is part of what makes art so immensely joyful!
Join Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!
