Magnetite is a naturally occurring black, ferrous mineral pigment which is also magnetic! Magnetite is also the natural counterpart to synthetic Mars Black and was named after the location where it was first sourced in 1845, Magnesia, Greece.
Black iron oxides, like Magnetite, have a long history of use as pigments and offer a cool undertone and unique textures. This color can achieve opacity with a fine texture.
All of our watercolors are handmade in our shop using the highest quality earth and synthetic pigments, plus natural watercolor binding medium made from gum arabic (sap from acacia trees), honey, glycerine, distilled water, and a dash of clove oil for freshness!
Half Pans contain around 2ml of paint and are approximately 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" deep.
