Home Comforts — Sitting Pretty with Claire Wilson
Friday, January 17, 5:00pm - 6:30pm PST
Hyg·ge - a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).
Home is my sanctuary, I have always been inspired by interior design, and love to cozy up with home magazines to escape into other worlds and spaces. Chairs in particular have always inspired me, a stand in for people not present, an object that can provide support, familiarity and a feeling of home.
In this session we’ll be observing vintage chairs and creating studies using watercolor to depict textiles, texture, and pattern details. Hygge is about taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures, so let's pick up a brush and create some painted home comforts.
Join Zoom 15 minutes early (4:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!
SUGGESTED MATERIALS:
- Watercolour paints - I like to have a mix of warms/cools/neutrals and maybe a neon if you have one
- Watercolour paper - I'll be using the 6 x 9 Case For Making Classic Watercolor Paper cold press
- Cup of Water
- Studio Cloth or Paper Towel
- Hard pencil - 2H/3H
- Brushes - medium round & 1/2 liner or round brush
- Scrap paper to swatch paints and warm up
