Saturday, March 15, 11:00am - 12:30pm PST
This is an online workshop held via Zoom.

Home is my sanctuary. I have always been inspired by interior design, and love to cozy up with home magazines to escape into other worlds and spaces. As a textile designer, I'm often drawn to objects with pattern and texture. Rugs are so inspiring for color; they're like mini canvases and works of art in themselves!

In this session, we’ll observe vintage carpets and create studies using watercolor to depict surface, texture and pattern details. Hygge is about taking time away from the daily rush to be with people you care about (or even by yourself), and to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures. So let's pick up a brush and create some painted home comforts!

Join Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:

  • Watercolor paints - I like a mix of warms/cools/earth tones, plus a neon if you have one
  • Watercolor paper - Arches 100% cotton 140lb preferred, or Strathmore Ready-Cut is a great affordable option
  • Brushes – A Size 6 or 8 Round & small liner or round brush. I love using small flat brushes for geometric patterns
  • Cup of Water
  • Studio Cloth or paper towel
  • Hard pencil - 2H/3H
  • Scrap paper to swatch paints and warm up
  • Optional - Washi, Artist's, or Nichiban masking tape; gel pens (a lovely way to add detail, especially white ones); white crayon or oil pastel (for adding texture);
    a hairdryer to speed up drying time
