Saturday, June 28, 11:00am - 12:30pm PT
This is an online workshop held via Zoom.

In this workshop, we’ll paint delicate, light-filled flowers inspired by Hilma af Klint, a pioneering Swedish artist best known for her visionary abstract paintings rooted in nature, spirituality, and symbolism. Decades before abstraction gained widespread recognition, af Klint was creating art that sought to express unseen energies and the deeper patterns of life. Among her lesser-known but equally captivating works are her ethereal flower studies – gentle, glowing compositions that radiate presence and wonder.

This class was inspired by a recent trip to the Museum of Modern Art to see Hilma af Klint's botanical studies in person. Using watercolor’s natural transparency, we’ll explore how to create flowers that feel luminous, almost translucent. The aim of this course is not to paint with botanical exactness, but rather to emulate the rich spiritual energy that Hilma imbued in each bloom.

“I have shown that there is a connection between the plant world and the world of the soul.” – Hilma af Klint
