Fluid Florals - Dutch Masters with Claire Wilson

Saturday, November 29, 11:00am - 12:30pm PT
This is an online workshop held via Zoom.
In this workshop we’ll be drawing inspiration from the still life florals of the 17th Century Dutch Masters. Instead of the usual white paper, we’ll be experimenting with depicting floral reference on black watercolor paper. A trademark of the paintings of this era was a deep dark background that emphasized the light and colour of the flowers. This class will explore the movement of pigment through water, using wet on wet and pulling and charging techniques to convey the luminous qualities of flowers. We'll use the black paper medium to play around with depth and shadows, and some unexpected hues!
Join Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!
