TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 5:00 - 6:30pm PT
This is an online workshop held via Zoom.
For many artists, creative practice is an interdisciplinary process. Many of us read to gear up for drawing, listen to music while painting, or take walks to clear our minds and make room for inspiration. Oftentimes, the answer to a tricky creative problem arises when we’re busy doing something else—when our minds get a moment of distance, and experience a new angle from which to pull ideas.
In this session, we’ll explore writing as its own practice, and also as a tool for cross-pollination. Thinking and working outside the box, we’ll do a few playful warm ups, then settle into a longer writing prompt. Through these exercises, we’ll observe how the sound, meaning, and organization of words can stimulate the visual. We’ll also discuss the ways that conscious use of alternate creative forms can broaden—and invigorate—our creative process. No experience necessary!
Join Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants! Class will begin promptly at 5 minutes past the hour, so everyone has plenty of time to create!
