SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2:00 - 4:00pm PT
This is an in-person workshop at
CfM Art Room:
4035 Judah St, San Francisco, next door to our shop!

In this workshop, we’ll explore low relief printmaking and you’ll learn to carve a printing block using soft, easy to carve materials. Learn how to transform a line drawing into a print that you can use again and again on stationary, art pieces, in sketchbooks or anywhere else you’d like. In this class, you’ll be able to complete one 3x4 printing block with the option to carve a second print or work on a larger image, time allowing. Carving tools and inks will be provided for your use during class.

MATERIALS NEEDED
These are the supplies you'll need to bring for class—feel free to supplement this list with other options you love or have on hand!

  • Paper to print on (sketchbook, blank cards, small papers)
  • One 3 x 4 Speedball Speedy Carve Block (available at Blick and at Case for Making)
  • If you have an image you’d like to use (leaves, animals, trees, especially line drawings, all look great), bring this along too. I have a library of source material and images to trace as well.
  • Ink will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own ink or purchase an ink pad at the shop!

If you'd like to purchase supplies from our shop, you can order online and select in-store pickup, or shop in person before class. Shop hours are 11am-6pm daily; please plan ahead if you're picking up supplies! Instructors will not have access to the shop when we're closed.

THINGS TO KNOW
If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible so we can open up your spot! We are only able to refund if we’re notified at least 48 hours prior to the workshop.

Workshop doors open 15 minutes early for all to arrive and get settled. Class will start promptly so everyone has plenty of time to create!

For public transit, both the #18 bus and the N-Judah muni lines stop just at the corner of our block. If you're driving, there is 1-hour parking along Judah St., and unmetered street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. We recommend building in extra time to park for evening and weekend classes!

If you are planning to teach in the future using anything you’ve learned from us, we kindly ask that you credit Case for Making + the individual instructor where applicable.

Thank you so much for taking our workshops!!
