Have you ever wanted to capture the essence of a red-tailed hawk's feather on paper? In this session, we will learn to paint birds of prey in watercolor. Using your preferred reference photos, we'll learn to notice the shapes, colors, and forms that make up these beautiful birds and translate them into paintings. Any level of painting experience is welcome!

Gina has been painting wildlife for many years, and has spent a considerable amount of time studying raptors in particular through falconry and birding. She will guide you through your particular reference and help you bring your bird to life on the page.

Join zoom 15 minutes early (4:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!

  • Watercolor paper (multiple sheets)
  • Large brush (I like size 8 mop or round)
  • Small brush (size 4 or smaller)
  • Flat brush (optional)
  • Watercolors
  • Cup for water
  • Mixing surface
  • Reference photos of birds of your choice (or paint along with mine!)
