The Gift of Hindsight with Dave Muller

Many of us have stacks of unfinished or abandoned paintings that we can't part with, yet we are unsure of what to do with. These paintings hold valuable information about where we have been and how far we have come in our creative process. While investigating these forgotten works, this class explores ways to reignite lost ideas and repurpose assumed failures. We will learn how to discover the treasures that hide in plain sight as we clear the clutter of ambiguity from our archives. As a bonus, we will learn ways to salvage old art by transforming it into beautiful gifts for others (just in time for the holidays!).
Join zoom 15 minutes (4:45pm) early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm so that everyone has plenty of time to join!
SUGGESTED MATERIALS:
- As many unfinished watercolor paintings as you have, preferably ones that have been sitting for a while.
-
All your favorite watercolor paints and brushes, including one large brush for washes.
-
Paper towels or cloth towels
-
Scissors
-
Tape
- Glue or glue stick (optional)
- 2 pieces of opaque white craft paper for cutting, nothing fancy but big enough to cover most of the biggest paintings you are bringing.
ABOUT DAVE
Dave Muller has been a friend and an inspiration to our shop since before we even existed. He is a staple in our Outer Sunset neighborhood as an artist and fellow business owner. Dave has a way of making art that is both incredibly free, yet very detailed and precise—which creates a beautiful balance especially while working with watercolor. Dave shares our studio space with us and we always love to see what he is working on—we’re so excited to learn from him here, as well!
