In this workshop we will celebrate the season by painting flowers from life and/or photographic references.

Inspired by the bright colors of summer and a long history of botanical illustration, we will look closely and carefully at a handful of flowers. We will work on some quick sketching and dive into painting. As we work with our watercolors I will go over color mixing and matching, charging, layering, brush strokes and I’ll share how I make choices about composition and detail inclusion.

There are so many ways to paint flora with watercolors, and we will play around with different approaches to the same material. This activity always reminds me to remain curious and patient and loose! All levels welcome.

Join zoom 15 minutes early (1:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 2:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!
