Primary Colors: Red with Julie Cloutier
Saturday, February 11, 11:00am - 12:30pm PST
The first in a series of 3, this Primary Colors session will focus on the color RED! Exploring painting through one color at a time is a great way to deepen your understanding of your palette and to further your knowledge of pigment. This session will be packed with information about color theory, warm vs. cool, shade vs. tint. Through layering and playful swatching we will look closely at color combinations as well as work on a monochromatic still life composition.
Join zoom 15 minutes early (10:45am) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!
- All your favorite watercolor paints! Including all the reds you have (Julie will be using Vermilion, Carmine Naccarat, and Flame Red among others)
- If possible, bring your white and black watercolors too!
- A mix of watercolor paper sizes would be great; preferably 2.5x3.5" and 5x7". (Strathmore, Arches or CfM Tiny Paper all would be excellent for the exercises)
- Mix of round and flat brushes (whatever brushes you have on hand will work but a mix of small and large would be helpful)
- Mixing palette
- Cup of water
- Pencil & Eraser
