Playing with Words with Yina Kim

Thursday, April 6th, 5:00 - 6:30pm PST

Sometimes when I'm sitting at the table to draw, I have difficulty finding what to draw. During my residency in a small town in France, I bought a little French-English dictionary to learn French words (and to kill some time!). Then I came up with the idea of mixing two or three words to draw an image. This exercise helped me not be afraid of not having ideas to draw because I can find them in a dictionary, book, magazine, or email from a friend! We will create prompts together, or you can make your own. We can share what we each came up with!

Join zoom 15 minutes early (4:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm so that everyone has plenty of time to join!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:

• Books, dictionaries, and any written documents you can dissect words from.

• Any drawing materials that are comfortable for you. I will be using pen, ink, watercolor, and colored pencils.

ABOUT YINA

Yina Kim is an illustrator and maker living in the Sunset that can pretty much make anything. We first met Yina back in 2014 when Case for Making first opened and we found her and her partner's store, Odsy Workshop, on instagram and immediately got a business crush on them. Flash forward a few years when a CfM paint maker and friend told Yina they were making paint with us and Yina said, "I want to do that, too!" So Yina started coming in to make paint during the hours she wasn't running her business and working on the myriad projects she always has going on, and thank goodness she did!

All workshops are recorded and the replay will be automatically available the day after class to everyone who paid for a spot! The link to the recording will expire 30 days after the date of the session.
