Painting Poetry with Rawley Clark
Friday, July 8, 5:00pm - 6:30pm PST
Since I started painting, I have always found inspiration in poetry, music and the written word! I particularly love how poets use language to paint vivid imagery in our minds without having a visual component. I also love that poetry can be interpreted in so many different ways, and can have such different meanings to readers based on their backgrounds and experiences. In this class, we will work through different exercises that will help us to listen and respond to poetry with our own images. We will hear poems and pieces from a variety of writers with different styles and stories, then create imagery based on the poetry and the feelings that they invoke. Drawing on the poets’ words and our own experiences, we will work through several exercises to help us create our own interpretive imagery.
Join zoom 15 minutes early (4:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!
