Painted Paper Collages with Anjelika Deogirikar Grossman
Thursday, July 7, 5:00pm - 6:30pm PST
Early in life, I picked up an interest in collages from my mom. That curiosity was rekindled after taking Erin McCluskey Wheeler’s online collage workshops. I find collage to be an accessible medium and one of the most fulfilling ways to get value on paper. During year one of the pandemic, I started creating collages with painted paper that I started making after the January 2020 Case for Making newsletter with the subject “Make a mark and then make another one.”
Collages allow me to focus on composition and explore color. I create collages with my own painted paper and found paper, and then add my own embellishments with paint or colored pencil. Collages also give me a chance to give a second life to something painted previously that did not feel complete.
