Using watercolor, we'll explore simplified shapes, geometric lines, layered translucent colors, and imaginative compositions to create paintings that emulate Klee's work. The class will focus on balancing structure with spontaneity, using color blocking to create our own compositions.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003ePaul Klee (1879 - 1940) was a Swiss-born German \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eExpressionist artist whose work blended abstraction and symbolism. His paintings \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eare well known for their sense of childlike curiosity. Klee combined geometric forms and expressive marks with glowing hues. By studying his approach to painting, participants will discover \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eto new ways to explore abstraction through color and form.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eMark making describes the different lines, dots, marks, patterns, and textures we create in an artwork. It can be loose and gestural, or controlled and neat. She earned her MFA in painting at the Burren College of Art in Ireland, and has an interdisciplinary background in painting, cross-cultural studies, and somatic psychology. Her work explores the intersection of healing, meaning-making, and the natural world.
