Tuesday, July 19, 5:00pm - 6:30pm PST

This session is all about using fluorescent watercolors and how we can incorporate them within our own palette. In the beginning I was hesitant about using neon colors, I honestly didn't think they had a place in my painting practice. But after playing around with one color (Flame Red!), I realized how lovely fluorescents can be combined with other colors to make beautiful washes, rich details and unexpected mixtures. Join me as we explore the incredible brightness of fluorescent colors and the richness they can give to our paintings. Wether you love neon colors or aren't sure they're for you, this session will make you want to paint more with fluorescents.

Join zoom 15 minutes early (4:45pm PST) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:

  • Fluorescent Watercolors (ideally, at least 2)

  • Your other Watercolors! (however many you have, ideally 12 colors!)

  • 2 types of Paintbrush, one small and one large (Julie will be using size 6 round and size 12 mop brush)

  • Cup of water

  • A pencil or pen

  • A handful of Watercolor Paper sheets, preferably a mix between 8"x10" and 4"x6", or something similar. (We love 140lb, cold press watercolor paper and recommend Strathmore Vision or if you want to splurge and try the best of the best you can grab some Arches 100% Cotton paper because it’s oh so good! Julie only paints with it!)

  • Watercolor sketchbook

  • CfM Grid Paper for color swatching *optional
