Alexis will demo how we make a batch of watercolor paint from pure pigment in order to explain why watercolors do what they do. Having a solid understanding of the actual material helps to ground the way we learn to use watercolor paint!\u003cstrong\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrom there we'll explore:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eCold press vs hot press paper\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e— which surface for which effect\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eBrush shapes\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e— round, flat, filbert, liner, mop — and when to reach for each one\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eColor mixing basics\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e— premixing, wet on wet, dry brushing, and glazing\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eThere will be time to paint and explore and ask any questions you have to help get your started with watercolor! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy the end, you'll understand what your paint is actually doing — and have the curiosity and confidence to keep going.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eJoin Zoom 15 minutes early for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and class participants!
