Friday, July 8, 2:00pm - 3:30pm PST

Geometric watercolour studies have been an integral part of many historical artists practice. They are a great way to explore colour and composition. Inspired by my recent visit to see the Sophie Tauber-Arp exhibition at the Moma we’ll be creating small geometrical studies and experimenting with glazes and layering.
In this session we’ll learn about creating organic compositions using geometric elements, and how to create harmonious colour studies whilst exploring the magical transparent properties of watercolour as a medium.

Join zoom 15 minutes early (1:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 2:05pm PST so that everyone has plenty of time to join!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:

  • Watercolour paints - some warms, cools, neutral like a grey or ochre, and maybe a neon if you have one!

  • Mixing Palette

  • Round Brushes - medium & small

  • 2 x Cups of Water

  • Paper Towel

  • 6 x 9 or 5 x 7 Sheets Watercolor paper - I’ll be using my fave 140lb Arches cold press watercolour paper but any 140lb/300gms watercolour paper will work

  • Spare sheet of paper to swatch colours

  • Artists or washi tape to tape your paper down
