Most famously, Vincent van Gogh elevated the sunflower into an icon of emotional depth and artistic freedom. His Sunflowers series, painted in the late 1880s, reflected his desire to bring joy through colour, and captured the radiance of one of nature's most beloved blooms. In this session we will cover some basic watercolor techniques including washes, layering, and blending and apply them to capture the lively textures and sunlit warmth of sunflowers. I’ll also provide composition tips for creating a balanced and eye-catching floral study.

Flowers have been a constant source of inspiration for my textile designs for many years and I just find it so therapeutic to try and capture their beauty with paint.
