Tuesday, March 28, 5:00 - 6:30pm PST

In this session, we will look to our bookshelves for inspiration! We will spend some time laying out a few favorite book titles through layering watercolors and painting details. Through this exercise of documenting everyday objects, we will immerse ourselves with color matching and glazing. By day Julie is a ceramic artist, but painting has become a refuge. Her therapy is painting, so join her in taking a mental break and distract yourself with watercolors.

Join zoom 15 minutes early (4:45pm) for an informal meet and greet with the instructor and other class participants! Session instructions will begin promptly at 5pm so that everyone has plenty of time to join!

SUGGESTED MATERIALS:

  • 3-5 Books! (Bring what you are currently reading or old favorites! Fiction, cookbooks, magazines... whatever you prefer!)

  • All your Watercolors (Julie loves: French Vermilion, Ultramarine Blue Light, Yellow Ochre, and always has a few neons in her palette such as Fluorescent Violet :)

  • 3-4 Pieces of Watercolor Paper, either 5x7, 6x9 or your sketchbook works too. (We love 140lb, cold press watercolor paper and recommend Strathmore Vision or Arches)

  • Brushes (a mix of small and medium size, Julie will be using a size 2 and 6 round)

  • Mixing Palette

  • Cup of Water

  • Pencil

  • Ruler

  • White Gouache (Julie recommends our Titanium White or Permanent White Gouache in a tube!) *OPTIONAL
